What are cosmeceuticals?
Cosmeceuticals are skin care products that have pharmaceutical benefits and contain bioactive ingredients such as vitamins, enzymes, antioxidants, peptides, ceramides, minerals, herbs and essential oils. They are only available from a skin care professional and go beyond the appearance of your skin to improve its overall health and function.
Can anyone use cosmeceuticals?
Different cosmeceuticals are right for different skin types and issues, so it’s important to have a proper skin analysis and seek recommendations for an experienced professional, preferably a doctor who can advise you on the best products for your needs.
What are pharmaceutical skin care products?
Pharmaceutical skin care products are cosmetic products that have pharmaceutical benefits. Like cosmeceuticals they contain bioactive ingredients such as vitamins, enzymes, antioxidants, peptides, ceramides, minerals, herbs and essential oils. However, pharmaceutical products are licensed as medical products, they tend to be stronger than cosmeceuticals and sometimes will contain different ingredients than cosmeceutical products. These products are for treating specific skin concerns, though they don’t necessarily require a prescription.
What are prescription skin care products?
Prescription strength skin care products are only available on prescription. The prescription of this type of skin care can only be given by; and it’s use overseen and monitored by a GP or dermatologist. Some prescription products and treatments, such as Roaccutane can only be provided by a dermatologist such as Dr gauba. Prescription skin care is given purely to treat a skin condition. Topical products contaiming, Tretinoin and Hydroquinone are strictly prescription only.
What is ZO®?
The ZO® Skin Health cosmeceuticals range and ZO® provides a home-care skincare regime that can be used whether or not you decide to have an in-office aesthetic procedure. This range maximises the effectiveness of vitamin A (retinol) to reduce the signs of ageing by penetrating your skin and stimulating the natural production of collagen and elastin.
The ZO® Skin Health products protect your skin from pollution and the environment. These products are clinically proven to create and maintain healthy skin. The benefits of these products are that they can increase your skin thickness, enhance cellular function, improve your circulation and minimise inflammation as well as treat specific skin problems. There are dedicated skincare programmes for acne treatment and prevention, and anti-ageing, as well as products for cleansing, exfoliation, skin defence and repair, renewal and recovery, and sun protection.
