Lip Enhancement – Lip Plump
Let your lips do the talking before you say a word! Your lips are always moving, talking, smiling, chewing, laughing – all this movement can take its toll in the form of fine vertical lines that bleed into the lip, loss of volume and definition, and deeper set lines that pull down the corners of your mouth to give you a sad face all the time.
If you feel your smile needs some special attention to give you back some of the volume and definition you feel you’ve lost, and to make your resting face look more content, Dr Victoria Gauba can help.
Dr Gauba is exceptionally skilled at using dermal fillers such as Juvederm® Volbella® to add definition to your mouth and give your lips a more youthful appearance. She can help to add symmetry to your smile, enhance the Cupid’s bow, subtly increase lost volume, and even lift the corners of your mouth so that your sad face disappears.

What is Juvederm® Volbella®?
Juvederm® Volbella® with lidocaine is a dermal filler that has been specially formulated for use in and around the lip area. The product creates a softer, more natural feeling result that lets your lips keep their full mobility. Because the product contains lidocaine – a form of local anaesthetic – it offers an incredibly comfortable treatment experience.
Why do you use dermal fillers for lip enhancement?
Dermal fillers offer the best treatment option for areas that have lost volume due to a decrease in hyaluronic acid, collagen, elastin and hydration. They are also ideal for filling static lines and wrinkles while still letting your mouth move naturally.
People often ask us why we don’t use Botox for lip enhancement, but the answer is that Botox® is better for dynamic wrinkles that are visible when your face moves. Because Botox® works by temporarily preventing these muscles from moving, it could affect your speech if used in your lips. Many of the aesthetic issues associated with the lips can only be addressed with fillers.
Can dermal fillers be used to give me fuller lips?
We find that dermal fillers are particularly effective for lip enhancement. We can use specially formulated lip fillers to add volume to your lips, improve their definition, enhance your Cupid’s bow and emphasise the vermillion line, i.e. the outline of your lips. In Dr Gauba’s expert hands, this will rejuvenate your lips without looking over filled.
I’m worried about having a ‘trout pout’ – will my lip plump treatment look natural?
This is a common question. In most cases, the ‘trout pout’ associated with certain celebrities is the result of silicone being placed in the lips or overfilling. It’s incredibly important to do your research before you have an aesthetic treatment of any kind and to look for a qualified cosmetic medical doctor with a proven track record. In the right hands, your lip plump should still look and feel natural.
It is Dr Gauba’s belief that using dermal fillers is almost an art form as she carefully sculpts your lips with tiny enhancements designed to balance and showcase the beauty of your natural features. In Dr Gauba’s skilled hands, a small quantity of filler in the right place can add a subtle sensuality to the curve of your lips or create a better symmetry.
Dr Gauba will look at your whole face to create a treatment that is effective but natural. She may even recommend focusing on boosting your own collagen production before going ahead with dermal fillers so that you only need a small amount to achieve the look you want. The chances are that your friends and family will tell you that you looked refreshed and healthy without being able to pinpoint exactly what you’ve had done.
How long will the results last?
Dermal filler treatments are temporary, non-invasive and require virtually no recovery time, which means that you can get straight back to everyday life after your appointment. You should also see the results of the treatment straightaway.
How long the results last depends from one person to the next and is influenced by factors such as the size of the treatment area, where you’ve had treated, your own response and more. As a general rule of thumb, you should see a noticeable improvement in your appearance for between six and 12 months, after which you may decide to have a top-up treatment to keep enjoying the results.
Are dermal fillers safe?
As the second most popular non-invasive aesthetic treatment in the US and one that is quickly catching up here in the UK, dermal fillers have a strong safety record. In particular, hyaluronic acid fillers tend to be well tolerated and longer-lasting. Of course, as we have to inject the dermal fillers into the delicate skin in and around your lips, you may experience some bruising, swelling and redness around the injection site. This is common and should resolve within a few hours.
The most common medium-term effects of dermal fillers occur if the filler is injected too near the surface of the skin or too much is used in the focal area. However, one of the benefits of this treatment is that hyaluronic acid dermal fillers can be broken down with hyaluronidase in the rare event of a problem.
As Dr Gauba has more than 15 years’ medical experience, including the use of dermal fillers, and has extensive training in medical cosmetics and dermatology, her clients have not experienced any problems to date as she takes a cautious ‘less is more’ approach to dermal fillers with the view that more can be added, if necessary. Technologically advanced man-made fillers are animal-free and require no test prior to treatment. However, Dr Gauba will discuss potential side effects before you commit to any procedure.
How much does lip enhancement cost?
The cost of your lip plump treatment will depend on the area to be treated, the number of injections you need and the quantity of fillers to be used. As a rough guide, you can find our full treatment and price list here. We will always give you an itemised breakdown of your treatment plan so that you can be confident that there are no hidden costs.
